[Church] The Kanye Revival

The past few weeks in the media have been absolutely dominated by one name: Jesus. But as much as many have prayed, believed and hoped for this to be the case – hardly any would have imagined it would have happened the way it has. Even I wrote a reserved article about Kanye’s Sunday Services on this platform – pointing out that it wasn’t specifically a church. But things have developed significantly since then – most notably the album Jesus Is King dropping on the 25th of October.

While there were maybe still some reservations, a significant moment transpired recently when Joel Osteen – one of the most widely known voices of American Christianity today – had a conversation onstage with Ye at his sixteen-thousand-seater church on Sunday morning. The very fact that he was on the stage with the pastor was a massive endorsement, but what took place after that was something that is hard to ignore.

If anyone knows Kanye, they would know first that he is definitely still himself. He still mentions being the greatest artist of all time, but also his mental breakdown, his stream of consciousness and speaks about his projects.

BUT it is also very clear something has shifted in Kanye’s life. One of the first things he declares is that there is only one superstar: Jesus. Continuing to mention issues with how people categorise his music. He also declares that he’s doing everything in service to God, before speaking about how he had once been deceived by the trappings of fame and the media.

Now many would still want to question what’s really going on. It is very sad that Christians can be known for their judgement and condemnation – Kanye preempted the polarising effect his album would have in his lyric – they’ll be the first one to judge me. But in the context of what we believe as Christians, the authenticity should not be a concern. Jesus himself never demonised a person for their sin. He only confronted those who claimed to be what they were not. And if that be the case with Kanye, it is God and God alone who can judge that.

While thinking about this phenomenon – where the ‘secular’ world is literally being turned around by the declaration of Jesus – I was reminded of when Jesus says:

“Everyone who acknowledges me before men, I will acknowledge before my father in heaven” Matthew 10:32

No matter what the motive, you can at least acknowledge that Kanye is acknowledging Christ as King in the very title – one that has been broadcast across Instagram, streaming platforms and Times Square to millions of people!

The Bible also has an account of Paul speaking about people who were declaring the message of Jesus – and how some were questioning the reason why they were doing so. His response was simple – and should define every Christian’s response:

“What does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whatever the motive may be, Christ is preached. And because of this, I rejoice!” Phillippians 1:18

Ultimately if Christians were going to judge, there is only one criteria by which Jesus allows anyone to judge another. And that is by their ‘fruit’ – or the visible impact of their actions. In the past Kanye’s influence has been questionable, but in recent days he has sold out arenas, publicly declaring the name of Jesus above his own and in one meeting saw over 1000 people respond to the message of Jesus’ love and sacrifice.

If you are reading this and you have been impacted by Kanye’s latest music, I want to encourage you – don’t let anyone (Christian or not) take away from the message Ye is trying to convey. Listen for yourself. Think for yourself. And maybe consider the possibility that if Kanye could truly and authentically change, maybe you could as well. But this kind of transformation is not simply some PR rebranding or ‘reinvention’ – it’s way deeper. There is actual substance to the power of Jesus Christ. If you truly honour him as the head and director of your life and accept his invitation to have a relationship with him – then everything shifts!

No man is perfect. Kanye admits himself that he is not. But that should never stop someone from receiving the love of Jesus. In fact, our brokenness is why Jesus died and rose again. So that death would not be in the way of you getting close to God.

Popular American rapper, Cardi B has picked a Nigerian name, Chioma B, few hours after she touched down the country.

The Grammy award winner and social media sensation arrived Lagos today ahead of her musical performance on the 7th of December, 2019.

She was spotted and filmed alighting from the airplane which she had boarded with her crew.

Cardi B was also surrounded by body guards as she made her way to the hotel room covering her nose.

The rap star is set to perform at the Livespot X Festival in Lagos on Sunday and in Ghana on Monday.

Sharing a video of herself vibing to Burna Boy’s ‘Ye’ on her insta story, the beautiful rapper announced her Nigerian name, ‘Chioma B’.

SIMI - Biography

Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye (born April 19, 1988), professionally known and referred to as Simi, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Simi started her career as a gospel singer, releasing her debut studio album in 2008 titled Ogaju. Her career came into spotlight in 2014 after she released "Tiff", a song which was nominated in two categories at The Headies 2015 and further brought her to mainstream recognition. Simi is currently signed to X3M Music under which she released her second studio album Simisola.

Growing up and education

Simi was born in Ojuelegba, a suburb of Surulere, as the last of 4 children. In an interview she granted to Juliet Ebirim of Vanguard Newspaper, Simi revealed that she grew up as a tomboy before the separation of her parents when she was 9.She attended Stars International College, a secondary school in Ikorodu, Lagos State.She is an alumna of Covenant University where she studied Mass Communication

Career

2006–13: Early beginnings and Ogaju

Simi grew up dancing and singing as a member of her local church's choir until she wrote her first song at the age of 10.Her professional musical career started in 2008 following the release of her debut album titled Ogaju which contained songs like "Iya Temi" and "Ara Ile" with the entire musical production from Samklef.

2014–present: Restless, Chemistry and Simisola

In January 2014, Simi released an EP titled Restless which gained her new grounds and further earned her a record deal with X3M Music.The EP contains a 5-track cover of popular songs by international acts like Rihanna's "Man Down" and Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain".On January 9, 2014, Simi released two singles titled "Tiff" and "E No Go Funny", with the former receiving massive airplay and accepted generally among music critics. The video for "Tiff" was released on August 30, 2015 and directed by Josh Clarke.The song went on to be nominated in the "Best Alternative Song" category at the 2015 edition of The Headies.

In 2015, Simi won the "Most Promising Act to Watch" category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In an interview with Leadership Newspaper, Simi said she is working on her sophomore album scheduled to be released in 2016. Upon the release of a single titled "Jamb Question" which later featured Falz in the remix, Simi was listed as one of the artistes to watch out for in 2016 by NotJustOk

On 14 February 2016, she released "Love Don't Care", an Oscar Heman-Ackah-produced ballad which was received to positive critical reviews and massive airplay. The song condemns the discrimination of love because of tribal and social prejudices. The music video of the song was directed by Clarence Peters. In October 2016, she was nominated in the Best Breakthrough Act category at the 2016 edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards. On 27 October, Simi collaborated with Falz to release Chemistry, a project Oghene Michael of 360Nobs described as an "experiment of the word art". In December 2016, Simi was nominated in three categories at The Headies 2016 award ceremony, winning one category

Since the release of her album, she has released for music videos off the album including "O wa nbe", "Complete me", "Gone for good" and "Aimasiko" which was a cover to a song of similar title by Ebenezer Obey with cameo appearance from him. On August 11, 2018 simi released another hit single of her style "I dun care" alongside a video for it.

Reekado Banks - Biography

Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon (born 6 December 1993), better known by his stage name Reekado Banks, is a Nigerian recording artist, singer and songwriter. He is currently signed to Mavin Records. He went by the stage name Spicy prior to his record deal with the aforementioned label. Reekado Banks was declared the Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014, and won the controversial Next Rated award at The Headies 2015. His debut studio album, Spotlight, was released on 1 September 2016. It debuted at number 10 on the Billboard World Album Music Chart

Life and career

Reekado Banks is the last child of a music-loving family. His father is a pastor from Ondo State and his mother is a caterer. Moreover, his elder brother is a producer and his elder sister is a gospel singer. He grew up in a disciplinarian setting due to both of his parents being pastors. He completed his secondary school at the age of 14, and started recording his first set of songs in 2008. His elder brother produced all of his earlier songs and tutored him on the rudiments of singing, writing and producing. He derived the stage name Reekado Banks by combining the meanings of the two names; the former part of his stage name translates to "strong ruler", while the latter part loosely translates to "wealth" In 2014, Reekado Banks graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in History and Strategic Study

Mavin Records deal and artistry

His record deal with Mavin Records came as a result of his brother submitting some of his songs to the label in an online talent search. Reekado Banks got signed to Mavin Records after his entries were selected from over 5000 entries. Reekado Banks told The National Mirror that his brother submitted his songs and communicated with the label on his behalf without his initial consent. Reekado Banks also told The National Mirror that he's a versatile artist who makes music with the thought that humans are different and have different taste.

2014–present: Singles recorded under Mavin Records

Reekado Banks premiered the single "Turn It Up" on 21 February 2014, which happens to be the same day he got signed to Mavin Records; the song features Tiwa Savage and was released as his first official single under Mavin Records. Reekado Banks was featured alongside label mates Don Jazzy, Korede Bello, Tiwa Savage, Di'Ja, Dr SID and D'Prince on the critical acclaim song "Dorobucci", which was released on 1 May 2014. Reekado Banks has also worked with his label mates to release the collaborative singles "Adaobi", "Arise" and "Looku Looku". On 13 February 2015, Reekado Banks released the Don Jazzy produced song "Katapot". The song was alleged to be a diss track towards D'banj and Wande Coal. In February 2015, Don Jazzy debunked the allegations in a series of tweets. While speaking to Vanguard newspaper, Reekado Banks stated that he created "Katapot" for his fans.

In July 2015, Nigerian telecommunications company Globacom signed Reekado Banks to an endorsement deal

A happy relationship between a man and a woman is the result of constant work, joint development, and compromises. Women are willing to do a lot for relationships, but sometimes they leave even the most beloved men. The reasons may be many. Let’s get rid of the most common ones!

#Boredom

Women are emotional by nature and often walk away from men who don't give them enough attention.

It’s important to understand that the interests and needs of a loved one are essential components of a non-boring relationship.

Boredom causes a feeling of fatigue and dissatisfaction with a relationship in general.

To avoid this, always find something that none of you have ever tried. Try something new and exciting. It can be anything: board games, travel, joint development, playing together any sport. These will enhance your relationship by adding bright colors.

#Appearance

Even if a man is wonderful and considerate, a woman can leave him if she is no longer attracted to him. Not only men find the first point of attraction by sight. Women also want to see themselves next to a man who takes care of himself. People tend to care about themselves before finding a partner more than afterward. Once they find that their companion and the relationship becomes stable and lasting, their motivation to be better and better disintegrates.

It is necessary to remember that your task is to continue to take care of yourself and look attractive to your beloved. The most crucial part of your appearance is health and how you look after your body. It’s the tone, the vital body, fresh breath, and body odor. Proper nutrition and sports help you keep yourself in shape. You don’t need to look like an athlete but someone who cares about their health and stamina.

#Lack of passion in a relationship

Give her what she wants, for as long as she wants it. You’d love the same, wouldn’t you?

Look for new places for intimate meetings, create a romantic atmosphere, try something new, something that will help diversify ur relationship, Keep flirting with her. It helps the relationship to remain fresh and playful. Spontaneous manifestations of tenderness fuel your relationship.

#When the woman doesn’t feel desirable

When a man ceases to admire his woman, doesn’t pay her compliments or doesn’t pay enough attention, the woman might fade away. Without care and attention, a woman feels alone. A woman who doesn't get enough emotional satisfaction in a relationship might start looking elsewhere.

Women need to feel loved. They need to feel unique and necessary in a man's life. “You're special to me” - that's what every woman wants to hear. Be interested in how her day was. It is essential for us to feel that you think about us and worry about us. Women desire to feel the supporting shoulder. Women want to share their thoughts and open their inner world to a man, relax, and feel loved and desired.

#Lack of development in relationships

Problems arise in a relationship when the goals of the partners do not meet. It is impossible to run for a long time in the same team if you are pulled in different directions.

You need to know whether your goals meet with the plans of your woman or not. Maybe she's set on getting married soon when you're not planning on it yet. Women break dead-end relationships. “What you want”, “what I want”, “what you expect from me”, “what I expect from you” - these are simple questions that will sweep away half of all problems and troubles.

[Tech] This 26-Year-Old Nigerian Is Now The Highest Paid Robotics Engineer

A 26-year-old Nigerian, credited for building the world’s first gaming robot, has just become the highest paid in the field of Robotic engineering. Silas Adekunle achieved this feat after signing a new deal with the world’s reputable software manufacturers, Apple Inc.

The robotics engineer was also named as “Someone to Watch in 2018” by the Black Hedge Fund Group Adekunle is currently the founder and CEO of Reach Robotics, a company developing the world’s first gaming robots. He also recently graduated with a 1st class degree and has four years’ background in robotics. 

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Adekunle studied in Nigeria before relocating to the UK as a teenager.

After completing his secondary school education, he proceeded to the University of the West of England where he graduated with a first class graduate in Robotics. In 2013, he founded Reach Robotics and developed a lot of experience on robotics within a space of four years. Adekunle was also a team leader of Robotics In Schools programme, a programme which encourages and pays attention to students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). 

The programme encouraged him to develop robotics to make education more entertaining for STEM students.n 2017, MekaMon, he released the world’s first gaming robot, with the special ability to customise the gaming bot to perform personalised functions. This Article Was First Published On Following this feat, Adekunle received support from various organisations including London Venture Partners ($10 million) and in the same year, his company, Reach Robotics signed a deal with Apple securing exclusive sales in Apple stores. 

“Impressed by the quality of his robots and their ability to show emotion with subtly-calibrated movements, Apple priced his four-legged “battle-bots” at $300 and has put them in nearly all of its stores in the United States and Britain. “Early customers skew towards male techies but a growing number of parents are buying the robots for their children to get them interested in STEM, Adekunle told Forbes in an interview this year. 

The young entrepreneur who once indicated that the secrets to his success are “balance, shared ideas, time management and being oneself”, was recently listed in the 2018 Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe: Technology. Adekunle, who has taken over the world with his inventiveness, is currently located at the Bristol Robotics Lab which is said to be the best robotics research centre in the UK.

[Gist] Davido’s camp refunds ‘Jos chillin’ appearance fee

Last weekend will be one to forget for Nigerian artiste Davido after he failed to show up for an event he signed up for in Jos.

The event was a concert organised by Mees Palace Galleria and Buckwyld Entertainment and Davido was set to headline the program alongside other artistes.

Tagged ‘Jos Chillin‘ 2019’, the concert had other acts like Faze, Jeremiah Gyang, Classiq, Atela and many others lined up to entertain Jos fans but it all came to a mess when the ‘Skelewu’ crooner failed to show up.

Fans trooped in to the event venue as early as 6 pm for the show but after assurances he will make it, Davido failed to show up and the organizers were forced to announce to an angry crowd that Davido won’t come for the event.

It took a lot of convincing for fans to go home without any sort of misdemeanour even as the organizers have promised to make it up to the fans.

The media backlash that followed wasn’t pleasing as fans took to social media to register their unhappiness with Davido.
Davido’s camp has not said anything yet as regards the no-show but the organisers were able to get Davido’s camp for fork out a refund of the appearance fee given to him that totals at 14.5 million naira.

Despite the refund, the organisers are talking to their lawyers with a view to either suing for damages or get the artiste to do a free show next February on Valentine’s day.

All Efforts to Bring Davido to #JosChilling Explained!

The much anticipated end of year event at cold city, Jos came to an end with lot of controversies as the Headliner, DAVIDO couldnt show up despite all hype and gyrations.

Many will argue that the management of Jos Chilling didint do their home work well or they scammed people into believeing the Billioniare’s Son is coming but contrary to all assupmtions the organisers have some details for us!

“For those claiming that the owners of Jos Chillin used Davido’s name to scam concert goers because they didn’t have any plans of bringing him, how do you just comfortably malign people’s integrity from your food shop in a location far removed from where the activities are happening?

Just for the purposes of clearing the air and providing further information into efforts made to get him to come to Jos, even at extra cost outside what was originally agreed (and paid for) in the contract he signed, Davido and his team did not communicate travel challenges to any member of our team until 6pm on show day. They first claimed that they didn’t have fund for fuelling his father’s jet, despite signing a contract that states clearly that he was supposed to take care of his logistics. We had a meeting and decided to concede by sending the money to fuel the jet. 

Next the said they needed to get permission from his dad to use the jet. This permission wasn’t forthcoming bu 7pm and we had another meeting and decided that instead of waiting endlessly for his dad to agree for him to use the jet, we will pay for another jet to bring him to Jos. We communicated this to his manager and he started asking silly questions about ownership of the jet and the flight status as if NCAA will allow an unhealthy jet to operate. With all these questions answered, the then proceeded to inform us that they they were 18 people travelling and the 8 seater jet we have provided won’t work. This guys signed a contract that says not more than 11 people were to come for the show including Davido. Remember also that we were bending over backwards to provide the 8 seater jet that we have no business providing. The time at this point was almost 8pm. 

We then had another management meeting to decide on a fall back plan and considered a lot of options. Naira Marley, Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage, Zlatan, Patoranking, Teni, etc. We decided to get Patoranking to come in from Abuja because he already a Hennessy event there. A private jet was in Abuja waiting for him to finish performance and board but he didn’t finish his performance till after 1am by which time we couldn’t continue to keep the airport open endlessly.

So for anyone to suggest that we didn’t make an effort to remedy the situation, that person is being uncharitable and callous. No.expense was spared to ensure that he came to perform. The man obviously accepted another booking in Lagos for Zenith Bank and was trying to kill all the birds with a single stone. This is extremely unprofessional and shouldn’t be justified by anyone that feels the need to be silly. Emmanuel Adukwu went over and above to ensure this man came as contractually agreed and the man defaulted, as he has done severally to other people.”
